The Chimurenga Chronic is a pan-African publication borne out of the need to question Western-based conceptual mappings and explanations of our social world. In March 2015, their issue focused on new cartographies made by Africans, for Africans –worth reading.
Two films will be shown about contemporary Dar es Salaam at the weekly Speisekino of ZK/U, in Moabit, July 29 2016, in partnership with Simulizi Mijini.
Did you know that some of the largest second-hand markets are located in East African cities, like Dar? Cold Feet used socks as a metaphor to uncover narratives of migration, rejection, travel and diplomatic rule between Germany and Tanzania.
Simulizi Mijini will be presented at the Institut fur Architekture’s end of the year exhibition at the TU Berlin, on Friday July 22nd, with works from the students and artists.
