Samaila Suleiman holds B.A. and M.A. in History from Bayero University Kano where he currently lectures and from which he received the Ibrahim El-Tayyeb prize for the Best Final Year Student in History. He completed his PhD in Historical Studies at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. His research interest lies broadly at the intersection of historiography, nationalism and the politics of history in Africa. He is a recipient of many prestigious fellowships and travel grants from the Social Research Council (SSRC), Carnegie Foundation and MacArthur Foundation. He has many articles and chapters in journals and books to his credit. He is currently working on a new project on the economics of history in heritage sites.
