During our residency, we followed eleven very different inhabitants of Dar es Salaam, with a GPS tracker and a camera, for one entire day.

The volunteers were filmed from morning to evening by local camera men and later interviewed by us. We were interested in how they move around the city during a typical day, what are their routines, what are their challenges and how they would like the city to develop.

The end result is an interactive video installation which offers different perspectives to Dar es Salaam through the subjective views of the participants (filmed and filming). The spectator can see each route and choose any of the short clips recorded in different parts of the city. The outcome provides unique insight into daily life in Dar, and shows the parallel realities within one city.
