Alex Roemer (*1972, Berlin) studied carpentry and architecture in France, Portugal and Germany, founding constructlab as a forum for participative design-build projects shortly before graduating from the TU Cottbus in 1998.

After collaborating with Raumlabor-Berlin on “Der Berg” project in 1998, Roemer worked with the Parisian collective EXYZT on the French contribution to the 10th architecture biennial in Venice – a 3-month long living performance that transformed the French pavilion into a hostel. Roemer continues to collaborate with EXZYT and Raumlabor, on projects such as “Lido” (2008) as part of the London Architecture Festival, as well as with architects including R&Sie and Atelier Bow-Wow.

As constructlab he recently convened the Osthang Projekt summercamp in Darmstadt. Roemer has taught, given workshops and conducted summer schools at the Politecnico di Milano, Bauhausakademie in Dessau and the art schools in Linz and Annecy.
